Unusual Corporate Events

If you want to plan an unusual corporate event, all you need is a little creativity and a team of event planners with an imagination. Why go for the same old company event when you can do something memorable; something that will make your attendees sign up for the next event before they leave the current event.

Here are some ideas to get your imagination going:

1.    Tie an educational theme or corporate theme to a larger theme. For example, if your corporate event is going to focus on climate change and ‘going green’, you may want to go with a green theme, using color to promote the idea across all events. Green folders, green lighting on the dance floor, green name tags, and green themes on master slides for presentations. Use recycled paper products. Give each participant a buckwheat pillow to use in their hotel room while they attend the conference. You might even get ‘green companies’ to donate small gifts and products for the participants.

2.    After your panel discussion on a topic, break the audience into teams and give them a problem to solve or ask them to design a new concept product to complement your product line.

3. Hold a company event with team building exercises. Develop questions to get the conversation going or use one of the many available ice breaker activities during your corporate event. You can find many ideas online and these ideas will allow you to move toward improved working relationships and team bonding through the use of creative exercises and discussions.

4.    Schedule a conference in a country or beach setting. You can bring in speakers to talk around a camp fire or in a park-like setting. These company events are especially good for groups of students and creative professionals who may be more inspired by the change in location.

5.    Involve participants and audience members in the workshops and events by inviting them to co-facilitate or to open a session with a story about a professional experience that relates to the topic of the session.

A good event planner will help you with ideas and will be enthused about your desire to make the corporate event interesting. When you consider the possibilities for a corporate event, you can start the discussion by looking at location, the interests and tendencies of the target audience, available speakers and facilitators to complement your ideas, and the accompanying environmental factors that might add to the theme or concept, e.g., food, music, supplies.
